Rapeseed is an agricultural crop, and canola is originally a native wild plant. The plants are very similar and are classified under the same definition in the Codex Alimentarius (the WHO/FAO guidelines for food and foodstuffs). In the spring, the plant is adorned with its characteristic yellow flowers. Seventy-five percent of the world’s production takes place in China, Canada, and India. The cold-pressed oil from rapeseed/canola comprises only 8% of the yield from the seeds, but the fibers are used in the animal feed industry for vitamins, proteins, and unsaturated fats.

Crude rapeseed/Canola oil
Produced by pressing rapeseed or canola seeds.
Its low-temperature fluidity makes it suitable for food and biodiesel applications.
Rapeseed/Canola fatty acids
A by-product of neutralizing crude rapeseed/canola oil.
The high oleic acid content (C18-1) makes it a valuable raw material in the animal feed industry and the biodiesel industry.
Refined rapeseed/Canola oil
Produced by chemically refining crude rapeseed/canola oil.
This product is widely used in the food industry.
Rapeseed/Canola Distillate
A by-product of physically refining crude rapeseed/canola oil.
With a very low melting point, this product is a highly valuable raw material for the biodiesel and HVO industries.
